    VESTRY NEWS

The new Vestry had a training day on Saturday 25 July, and met the following week. We have restructured our committees and given Vestry members portfolios instead. We’re keen to share this work and follow up the post lockdown survey on Sunday 30 August, in an after church forum.

END OF LIFE CHOICE REFERENDUM DISCUSSION

POSTPONED Depending on the COVID-19 Alert Level, we hope to meet on Sunday 23 August 11.45am in the office meeting room 198 Federal St. As we prepare to vote in this referendum we will pick up our discussion which we started last year led by our medical professionals. We will hear what is actually included in the Bill and reflect together on what we want to know before voting. Two websites you can explore to gain a more in depth understanding of issues around the Act are www.yesforcompassion.org.nz and www.riskylaw.nz. Holding opposing views with respect to the proposed Act, each presents their argument.

The End of Life Choice Act itself can be read on the following website: http://www.legislation.govt.nz/act/public/2019/0067/latest/DLM7285905.htm

    CREATION SEASON IN SEPTEMBER

Three Sundays in September we will focus on the care of creation. Our service will be shorter to allow for more after church discussion in table groups or on Zoom.

    LABYRINTH

We hope to have the Labyrinth from Monday 21 – Thursday 24 September, leading up to St Matthew’s Day on 27 September. There will also be some stations to focus on the Season of Creation which will lead into this.

The installation will be on Sunday 20 September at 5.00pm and the pack out on Thursday 24 September at 7.00pm. As usual we will need volunteers during the week – if you are available and keen please let Pip know.

WHAT THE TEAM ARE UP TO THIS WEEK

Depending on the COVID-19 Alert Level – the Finance committee meets on Wednesday, Thursday the Synod team will be attending a Pre Synod meeting with other parishes.
