Make palm crosses, decorate the church for Palm Sunday,
rehearse the readings, music and song for the season, hot cross buns.

10am – Procession, Blessing of the Palms and Reading of the Passion Story. CANCELLED
This service begins by recalling the entry into Jerusalem of Jesus,
welcomed by the crowds who waved palm branches as he rode on a humble donkey.
Then the focus changes to the week ahead – Holy Week –
as we tell the story of the events that will take place on Thursday and Friday, in the form of a dramatic reading.
12noon – Installation of the Labyrinth CANCELLED
The labyrinth is a prayer walk made of river stones which is laid out in the church
and available for anyone to walk during the week.
4.00pm – The Viva Voce choir bring us a concert within the labyrinth called “Journey to Jerusalem”. CANCELLED

We remember the Last Supper Jesus had with his disciples,
and prepare the church for the sorrow of Good Friday.

10am – a service of word and song focussed on the cross CANCELLED
We hear told the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, this year according to St Matthew.

5pm – Good Friday Concert CANCELLED
Michelle Scullion, a celebrated NZ-based flautist and film score composer,
will present a programme called the World of Flutes.
She will be performing her own compositions and that of some other composers:
Bach, Leonard Cohen, Gluck, Gounod and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The concert will also feature Sally Barratt-Boyes (mezzo-soprano), who will be singing two songs
(An Irish Blessing by Velma Frye and All in the April evening by Katharine Tynan and Hugh Roberton).
Bishop John Bluck will be giving some readings for the contemplative occasion.
HOLY SATURDAY 11 April
8pm – The Great Vigil of Easter and Renewal of Baptismal Vows CANCELLED
This service begins outside,
then we carry the Paschal Candle into the darkened church
and hear the stories of our faith read and then we proclaim Christ is risen!
We renew our baptism vows and share in the Eucharist.

EASTER DAY 12 April

The 10am service is a feast of music and the Easter story
as we celebrate the most important day in the church year.
